Wyong Race Club partners with 25 individual horse trainers who chose to operate from Wyong because of its facilities and location. Discover more about Australia’s leading horse trainers and learn about the thoroughbred industry, whether you are a novice or a seasoned racing enthusiast.
Our local trainer network combines decades of experience and knowledge to deliver on-track performance for the owners of the horses under their care.
Besides horse training, members of our local trainer network are also experienced with the purchase and sale of race horses. When it comes to the care, training and improved performance of your horses, you can count on WRC’s local trainers to provide you with the results you are looking for.
The WRC Board’s vision is for Wyong to be recognised as a “Racing and Training Centre of Excellence, incorporating high-quality Member and community facilities.” so that we can continue to provide horses that can compete and win at the highest levels in our sport.
KRISTEN BUCHANAN
One of our leading trainers, Kristen has more than two decades of training experience and a Group 2 victory to her name with Two Blue. She shared the Wyong Trainer's Premiership in 2022/23 with Kim Waugh and contines to build her stable. In 2022 she had a career highlight with Oakfield Arrow taking out the inaugural $500k Four Pillars. PH: 0432 837 680
KIM WAUGH
Our premier trainer, Kim Waugh has claimed the Wyong Trainers Premiership for the past eight years. Running her boutique stable from Jilliby, Waugh has had great success over her training career, her best horse to date Mahtoun, winner of the 2005 G1 Sydney Cup. PH: 0418 205 333
DAMIEN LANE
Achieving great success in a relatively short career, Damien continually figures each season in our leading trainers. He began training from Wyong in 2011 with his best horse to date Oakfield Missille, who won the Newcastle Provincial Championships Qualifier in 2020. TRACEY BARTLEY
Tracey, a multiple Group 1 winning trainer with Sniper’s Bullet, relocated to Wyong in 2010. He has continued to enjoy success with his small team, Kiss Sum winning the 2021 Four Pillars. along with the G3 Gunsynd at Eagle Farm in 2022. Another talented mare Barossa Rosa taking out the Ncle Provincial/Mid Qualifier in 2022. PH: 0412 215 965
WAYNE SEELIN
Joined the training ranks in 2002 and maintains a small stable. Trained veteran galloper Isorich to an impressive 14 wins to date.

BRETT PARTELLE
Has experienced great success since joining the training ranks in 1991. Enjoyed Group 2 victories with Torio’s Quest in the 2011 Queensland Guineas and Walking Or Dancing in the Newcastle Newmarket in 2010.

Relative newcomer to the training ranks, who saddled up his first runner five years ago. Seven-time winner Stradance among his successes.

JULIE HOLLOWAY
Took on training following passing of her husband Bob, a successful trainer for many years. Had her first winner Brooke in December 2019.

BEN HILL
Relative newcomer to the training tracks. Has a small team in work at Wyong. Posted his first win with Billabong Cindy in 2017, six months after taking out his licence.

John Cooper
From a strong background in racing and a former amateur jockey himself, John had a successful career in eventing before making the switch to thoroughbred training in 2018. An owner/trainer, John has around six horses in his care and enjoys considerable success with his small team.

An owner/trainer for the past seven years, Kellie maintains around three horses in work, her latest success coming with Lonfino.

Allan Kehoe
A long-established horseman and respected trainer, Allan returned to Wyong in mid-2021 following a stint on the North Coast, and currently has around 20 horses on his books.

Sara Ryan
One of our new breed of trainers, Sara has taken over the training of Domeland horses. A talented horsewoman, with experience in pre-trainer, she currently holds an owner-trainer licence and is heading toward a provincial licence, with plans to extend her team of eight.

Training Opportunities
If you’re not already part of our community, we’d love to welcome your horse(s) to train with us at Wyong Race Club. The facilities and we have to offer owners and trainers – including an equine swimming pool – are some of the best in this region of New South Wales. They are also some of the most affordable in the region, especially given their quality.
By working with a WRC aligned trainer, you gain year-round access to our upgraded range of new, high-quality horse training facilities and you will benefit from ongoing infrastructure enhancements as our capital program permits. Not to mention an amazing sense of community we can offer you at our grounds.
