Former Victorian trained three year old Claro El Banco may go to Wyong tomorrow for the Snap Fitness Tuggerah Class One (1200m) and if he does he will be in familiar territory.
Last season he won the Clockwise Magic Millions for two year olds at Ballarat in November and came to Wyong the next month for the Magic Millions Two Year Old only to run into a horse called Capitalist.
Craig Newitt flew up to ride him but after leading Claro El Banco was swamped, running seventh.
He ran second last in the Magic Millions at the Gold Coast, was spelled then finished well down the track when he resumed as a late two year old at Flemington and was put on the market.
A client of Gosford trainer Grant Allard bought the son of Statue Of Liberty and has given it to him to try and win races to get his benchmark up.
“The plan is for him to eventually go to Hong Kong but we need to get him up to a 70 Benchmark or higher,” Allard said.
“He is also an acceptor for Hawkesbury on Saturday but I am going to wait until the last minute before I make a decision.”
Claro El Banco has only been with Allard for a short time and ran second in a trial at Gosford three weeks ago.
“Thomas Huet came up and rode him and said it was a nice enough trial which was good because he is certainly not a flash track worker,” Allard said.
“He does what he has to and that’s it but in saying that there is definitely room for improvement.”
If Claro El Banco starts at Wyong he runs into a hot field including the John O’Shea trained Banuelo (Tim Clark) which was impressive in winning a Gosford maiden and the Kris Lees trained Yarrapower (Tommy Berry) which won a Gosford maiden last month then pulled up lame when fifth at Gosford a month ago.
Despite that he was still beaten only two and three quarter lengths.
Dynamic Syndications have made their decision and Tim Clark will ride Arbeitsan for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bolt in the WRC $30 Mid-Year Membership Join Now Three Year Old Maiden (1200m).
The in-form Clark was booked for both Arbeitsam and the Gerald Ryan trained Argie Bargie, also owned by Dynamic, but stewards allowed the double booking after being assured that only would start at Wyong and the other would go to Canterbury on Friday night.
Connections were just no sure which one at that stage but have since decided that Argie Bargie can run at Canterbury and Clark has the ride.
