Brett Partelle is confident of the chances of his two runners at Thursday’s Northlakes Toukley Rotary Charity Race Day.
The stable has Paris For Me resuming in the 1000m LAKES PODIATRY MAIDEN PLATE and last start winner Trust Me in the LAKE MACQUARIE SHEET METAL CG&E CLASS 1 HANDICAP also over the 1000m.
With the track likely to be in the heavy range Brett believes the only hindrance to his pair of runners figuring in the finish will be how they handle the conditions. “I think they will both be very competitive if they get through the going,” Brett said.
“We will have to find out eventually if they are suited to heavy tracks and hopefully if they are it could be a good day.”
Paris For Me, who is resuming from a spell, won a trial on a heavy track at Wyong on February 27 and Brett is hoping she can replicate that form on Thursday. “She is a really nice filly and has been doing everything right on the track.
“She trialled well in late February and would have resumed before now but was nominated for the Gosford when it was postponed.”
The three-year-old by Foxwedge has had five starts for two seconds and a third.
Brett considers her to be a “really nice filly” and believes she could have won the $244,000 Magic Millions Maiden in January if she had more luck in running. “She bombed the start and was 11 to 12 lengths off them coming into the straight. “She made up a heap of ground and finished fifth, only beaten two lengths. “
Corey Brown takes the ride on Paris For Me who will start from barrier two in a field of seven.
Trust Me is coming off a last start win at Muswellbrook on March 9.
“I’ve only had the horse for four starts and he’s run a first and second and was really credible at the Gold Coast.
“He ran in the same race as Paris For Me and was only beaten 2.9 lengths.
“He won his maiden very well a few weeks ago and to my eye he has improved since then. “He is going up in grade but I think he should perform well.”
Christian Reith takes the mount on the three-year-old Sepoy colt, who has drawn barrier four in a field of nine.
Both horses are owned by Viera Racing, long-time clients of Brett’s.
“They have been very supportive of me over the years. I raced Walking Or Dancing and Torio’s Quest for Bert Viera among others so it has been a successful association.”
